I built this bike imagining what I would have cobbled together and ridden to the Gold Rush.  It’s also a lesson in building a bike from scratch.  I’ve since replaced the seat with one I hammered out of plate, and I’m working on two instructables- one showing how to make a bike seat from a shovel blade, the other on how to make a pennyfarthing wheel out of anything round.
