Boat Turned Into A House

  • Ship originally transported iron and coal for Ford motor company
  • Interior designed by Henry Ford.
  • Thomas Edison was a passenger
  • Was decommissioned in 1981 after nearly 50 years of service
  • Ship’s forecastle removed and hung over Lake Erie as a holiday home

From the time it was built in 1924, the boat was also used to transport coal and iron ore across the American lakes.

After being decommissioned in 1981 it was left to rust for four years before the front part of the ship was removed, sailed to Lake Erie, and perched on top of an 18 foot cliff to serve as a holiday home.

Y Ruff It?

This teensy camper trailer belonged to William Lear of the Lear Jet company.  It was used to house his irish wolfhound.  The trailer was apparently towable, as it has a plate and lights, and it was also designed to be small enough to transport in the cargo hold of his private jet.  There used to be an air conditioner on top for the doggie’s comfort, and the propane tank flips open to reveal dog food storage. Y ruff it?

Traditional Rods.

Pure awesome.  Looks like the gas tank is by his side.  No radiator?  Just a couple of water tanks?  Must be for drag racing.  I love that there’s just a hint of a cowl, just a nod to what should be.
