What appears, at first glance, to be an airplane without wings, is, in reality, a road vehicle driven by a motorcycle engine and propeller. Airplane parts have been used for nearly all of the construction, and on smooth roads the little machine is capable of good speed. Braking is accomplished through two hardwood reels that are pressed against the two rear wheels. The construction, while light, is strong, and the machine has stood severe tests over rough country roads.

Oh my sweetmotherofchristinamotorcyclesidecar… is that… did he… is that a 2/3 TRACK!?!??!?!? An AMPHIBIOUS 2/3rd TRACK?!?!?
I have fond memories of driving one of those three-wheelers around drunk in an apple orchard, getting it up on two wheels, letting the kids drive…. I guess this guy, Bernard Reeves, built it because Top Gear makes fun of them so much and have rolled them intentionally on the show.
Truly, stunningly fantastic. As a vehicle builder I’m humbled, stunned, jealous, awed.

1954 Martin “Tri-Car”, an urban delivery van designed for New York in cooperation with James V. Martin. He spent his life trying to cure traffic congestion and urban parking issues by designing compact, fuel-efficient commuter cars. Just goes to show- any more than 50 years ahead of your time and you’ll spend your life a failure, considered crazy by society. It’s like Bob Dylan versus the one-man-band: Play the guitar and the harmonica at the same time and everybody thinks you’re a musical genius, but add some knee cymbals and a kick drum and women will cross the street to avoid you.
