There have been rumors flying for YEARS in the machine arts community that some lucky fabricators were holed up in Australia somewhere building vehicles for Mad Max 4 under extreme secrecy with insane budgets.  We do know that they’ve been working on the film since 2003 and have had numerous setbacks including a bloom of pretty little wildflowers all over their post apocalyptic setting.  The director says they have built over 150 vehicles.
Supposedly this is a tanker from the film, I like what they’ve done with the cab.

Supposedly these are two vehicles from the film.  Makes sense- they feature components of vintage Australian sedans.  Militarized fuel transport vehicles etc.  Spotted being shipped from Australia to Namibia.

I’ve seen (and posted) one other picture of this vehicle.  This picture was taken at a WWII event in Branson MO.

johnnypayphone:

This is my friend Matt’s truck (and his girlfriend Moose) at the Road Warrior Weekend.  He has been a big inspiration in vehicular modification- give him a sawz-all and a car that’s been rolled and he will make something that looks like it would pull over Mad Max for going under 70.

The Road Warrior Weekend looks fun because you have to dress the part to attend- there’s no looky-loos allowed.

…and after the zombies came, we made our little house in the back of a rail plow, and we travelled the vacant rails looking for canned goods, and you made the best spam crackers while I was squeegie-ing the zombies off the front of our home…

[edit:  now that I look at it, this plow is really really happy]
